ABOUT THIS BLOG

"A Faithful Attempt" is designed to showcase a variety of K-12 art lessons, the work of my art students, as well as other art-related topics. Projects shown are my take on other art teacher's lessons, lessons found in books or else designed by myself.
Thanks for visiting!
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT I acknowledge, with deep respect, that I am gathered on Treaty 7 territory. I acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for generations. I respect the histories, languages and cultures of all the Indigenous peoples of Canada, whose presence continues to enrich our community.

Woven Painted Hearts

Perfect Valentine project that combines paint and weaving.

Students folded a large sheet of heavy white paper in half.
They painted each side in different colours using tempera.

From one half they cut out a symmetrical heart. The other half they cut into their weft strips.
They used a ruler to make even strips.

Then cut strips into the heart and weave the paper strips through it.

Some Grade 4,5,6 finished hearts!

Watercolour Birch Trees

The old classic birch trees watercolour landscapes creating using masking tape.
So, so popular with staff!!
We used regular masking tape and lint it using our clothing to make it less sticky.
A cheaper alternative to painters tape.
I posted detailed steps in my original post HERE.
