Here are some recent birch tree paintings by my Grade 7-9 students. It's such a popular lesson and for good reason! All students get great results from this lesson and adults love them- they're one of my most commented projects by my colleagues at school.

I did a project similar to this with my first graders. We learned about the birch tree and how it was used by Native Americans to make many things. After painting the trees, I lead the children through a direct draw of a small white owl to place in it's branches. It was a super fun project that turned out beautiful. Thank you for posting!
